Founded by Sulake in the early 2000s, Habbo prides itself as one of the earliest metaverses where players can meet, interact, and build social connections. As of today, Habbo has continued its steadfast progress by expanding to nine online communities and attracting players from more than 150 countries worldwide.
With the rise of Web3, Habbo is directing its efforts toward building a sustainable NFT ecosystem empowering its users with full digital ownership of all in-game assets. The first step? Habbo Avatars. Launched in October 2021, the Habbo Avatars collection featured 11,600 automatically generated pixelated avatars to be used in the Habbo Game. All avatar holders were also promised ownership of a room in Habbo’s planned Web3 version of Habbo Hotel: Habbo X.
The collection was a hit and sold out completely within 26 hours, generating over 14 million dollars in revenue.
Next came furniture PFP portraits and clothing for users to express themselves and furniture to decorate their rooms in the upcoming Habbo Hotel.
And Immutable has been part of the ride since day one.
