What the Price Picker checks

Steam's "More like this" list is the starting pool, topped up from Steam's store search when few of those fit. A game is ticked when it shares 3 or more genre tags with yours (fewer when your game has few genre tags; tags like Singleplayer or Indie do not count). You can untick games and add your own.
Market benchmark
The middle half of the ticked games' USD list prices, rounded to Steam .99 price points. It is withheld when there are not enough close comparisons.
Regional benchmark
The similar games' median list price in ten Steam regions, each in its own currency, next to your list price.
What players say about price
Recent reviews of similar games sorted into too expensive, good value and wait for a sale, with quotes. It never changes the range.

Is the Steam Price Picker actually free?
Yes, it is free and needs no signup or email. Paste a Steam game URL or search by name and the benchmark, regional table and review buckets load on the page.
Does it tell me what price to set?
No. It shows what similar games typically cost, as a market benchmark, and where your price sits against it. It has no model of demand, so it does not recommend a price.
Which games count as similar?
The starting pool is the "More like this" list on your Steam page. When fewer than 5 of those are priced and close, Steam's store search on your top genre tags fills in. A game is ticked when it shares 3 or more genre tags with yours, fewer when your game has few genre tags, out of the top 10 store tags of each game (tags like Singleplayer or Indie do not count), is paid and has a US price. You can tick or untick any game with a US price and add games by name.
What do Strong, Moderate and Limited evidence mean?
Strong is 8 or more ticked games and Moderate is 5 or more; games you pick yourself count toward both. Steam's own suggestions must also share enough tags with yours, a median at the tick bar for Moderate and one above it for Strong, and that bar is lower for games with few genre tags. The tag test only judges Steam's suggestions, not games you picked. A very wide price range also caps Strong at Moderate. Anything less is Limited, and the range is withheld rather than shown on thin or loosely matched data. The reasons are listed under the label.
Can I use it before my game is released?
Yes, if the game has a Steam page. Paste the coming soon page, type the price you are considering, and it shows where that price sits against similar games.
Does it use launch prices or price history?
No. It uses what similar games list for today, and it flags games released 5 or more years ago as older pricing. It does not show launch prices, discounts or sales.
Does it predict how many copies I will sell?
No. It shows what similar games charge, not what they sold, and it makes no sales or revenue forecast. Use the Steam Revenue Calculator for an earnings range.
How are regional prices compared?
Each region is compared in its own currency: your list price against the median of the ticked games sold there. Nothing is converted. Valve's Steamworks pricing tool gives its own recommended regional prices, so use both.
What are the review buckets?
Recent English reviews of the ticked games that talk about price are sorted by phrase into too expensive or not worth, good value and wait for a sale. A few are shown as quotes. The counts describe a small sample and never feed the range.
