For Web3 gaming to reach its full potential, there needs to be crossover appeal. And with over 2.7 billion traditional gamers worldwide, there are a lot of opportunities to introduce gamers to the benefits of Web3 gaming.
But according to Emergent Entertainment CEO Ian Hambleton, without a focus on amazing entertainment experiences, these efforts will fail.
The product of a recent merger between Maze Theory and Pluto Digital, Emergent Entertainment is a next-generation gaming and entertainment company focused on building unparalleled entertainment experiences that spark the imagination of players.
Led by Hambleton and former EVP of Sony Playstation, Simon Rutter, Emergent Entertainment aims to combine artistic excellence and cutting-edge technological innovation to deliver a collection of jargon-free, pick-up-and-play AAA Web3 gaming experiences.
Resurgence is the first step in this journey.
Resurgence is a AAA free-to-play post-apocalyptic open world survival crafting game (MMORPG) designed to take players on a journey from a present day disaster to a post-apocalyptic future. Set 1000 years after an ecological disaster, the game empowers players to craft their own destinies, developing skills in survival, crafting, collaboration, trade, weaponry, and technology.
At the heart of the game sit Cryotags, an ongoing series of NFTs that tie into the story and lore while also offering extensive in-game benefits and player rewards. While players will have the choice to interact with and earn from the blockchain-powered aspects, if they choose, they should ultimately be delighted by the quality of the game itself.
And that’s exactly where ImmutableX comes in, providing Resurgence with a seamless user experience from onboarding to NFT trading and wallet creation.
Using our powerful ZK-rollup technology, ImmutableX will provide players with full ownership over in-game digital assets as fully carbon-neutral NFTs which can be traded gas-free at speeds of 9,000 transactions per second.
“We spent a huge amount of time assessing options for our Blockchain partner, but IMX were the standout choice. They provide all the tools and technology. Plus the support that a successful web3 games developer needs,” said Hambleton. “Their razor focus on gaming makes a big difference for us and their commercial model suits our vision at Emergent Entertainment.”
While still early in development, the excitement around Resurgence has been palpable. Since launching in [Insert Month] the game has amassed over 30,000 followers across all channels with an email list of over 3,000 subscribers. The Genesis collection of 1,000 Cryotags launched in August 2022 and sold out within days.
Perhaps most impressive is the launch of the Resurgence dApp where those interested in the project can connect their wallets to read the lore, browse the marketplace, and view their Cryotags.
And this is only the beginning.
